I have learned many new application on Google from the Power Searching with Google class. In class one, I learned how to use the Control F application on a webpage. Control F quickly determines whether or not a specific word (or text) exists on a web page or document. This can help me look for key words in a block of text that will help me find the information I am looking for. Another skill I learned in class one was how to filter Google image searches by color. This can help me filter out images that are not helpful and find useful images. An example of this is filtering the Google search to black and white so that charts or documents are more likely to appear. One application I learned in class two was the information panels on the right side of Google result pages. This can help me get a quick overview of the subject and even link me to other pages with more specific information. A second application of Google I learned from class two was the define search. You can define any word in a Google search by typing [Define : Word]. This can help me quickly define words for english class or even if I just see a word in a book that I do not understand. These are just some examples of applications I have learned to use more effectively from the Power Searching with Google classes.
